This majority of this recipe has to be prepared the night before.
Ingredients:
*20 slices white sandshich bread
*3 cups cooked breakfast sausage (about 3 packs)--you could do ham here instead
*10 oz sharp cheddar cheese
*10 oz swiss cheese
*6 eggs
*3 cups milk
*1/2 teaspoon onion salt
*1/2 tsp dry musdard
*3 cups cornflakes
*1/2 cup melted butter--1 stick
Directions:
1.) grease 9 x 13 pan; cut off crusts of bread and cut them in half; arrange bread pieces at bottom of pan
2.) arrange 1/2 sausage as 2nd layer
3.) mix cheeses is large bowl
4.) sprinkle 1/2 cheese mixture over sausage
5.) repeat layers
6.) combine slightly beaten eggs, seasonings, and mil in large bowl
7.) pour over layers, cover, and refrgerate over night
The next day:
1.) combine cornflakes and butter and place over strata
2.) bake at 375 for 50 minutes covered; take of foil and cook an additional 10 minutes
3.) let stand 10 mins before serving
Side Note:
You can cut recipe in 1/2 and put in an 8 x 8 pan.
